Emily & Ryan’s Coronado Wedding Party at Coronado Cays Yacht Club

A High-Energy Love Story | Coronado, California

Some weddings are elegant. Some are emotional. And some are just absolute bangers.

Emily and Ryan’s celebration at the beautiful Coronado Cays Yacht Club in Coronado was the perfect blend of heartfelt moments and full-send dance floor energy. As a San Diego wedding DJ, this is exactly the kind of night you dream about … 100-plus guests, open bar, high school sweethearts, and a couple who simply wanted their wedding to feel like the best party of their lives.

And that’s exactly what it became.

From High School Sweethearts to a Coronado Celebration

Emily and Ryan have been together since high school. After a small courthouse wedding in Massachusetts, they planned a larger celebration in San Diego to bring together friends and family from both the East and West coasts

Their reception was personal, high energy and unforgettable.

Waterfront Views & Modern Wedding Inspiration

Coronado Cays Yacht Club offers that perfect Southern California waterfront backdrop, boats in the marina, sunset over the bay, and a relaxed but elevated vibe. It’s an ideal setting for couples looking for modern wedding inspiration with coastal elegance.

Emotional First Dances That Set the Tone

Before the party kicked into full gear, we honored the moments that mattered most:

  • First Dance: “Wondering Why” – The Red Clay Strays

  • Mother/Son Dance: “Days Like This” – Van Morrison

  • Father/Daughter Dance: “Yours” – Post Malone

Each song felt authentic to them—no fluff, no overproduction, just meaningful music and real emotion. My job as their DJ wasn’t just to press play. It was to create space for those moments to land, manage the timeline, and ensure smooth transitions so the night flowed effortlessly.

The Perfect Dance Floor Opener (A Swiftie Moment)

Emily is a proud Swiftie.

And just before their wedding, Taylor Swift released “The Fate of Ophelia.”

No one could have predicted months earlier that a brand-new Taylor song would drop right before their wedding—and that it would feel like the perfect way to open the dance floor.

But in the moment, it just clicked. So that’s the song that kicked things off.

That’s one of the biggest advantages of working with a seasoned San Diego wedding DJ, reading the room, trusting your instincts, and knowing exactly when to play the right song.

The Final Send-Off: Rock Legends & A Personal Encore

For the official last dance, we brought it home with:

  • “You Shook Me All Night Long” – AC/DC

It was loud, sweaty, and perfect.

But we weren’t done.

Ryan had one request:

An encore of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird.”

The entire room belted it out like it was a stadium show. It was the kind of ending that doesn’t just close a wedding—it stamps it into memory.

Mia & Sam’s Rancho Guejito Wedding: A Dreamy San Diego Area Celebration

Mia and Sam with DJ Justin Kanoya, after a fun, sweaty dance party at their Rancho Guejito wedding.

On June 28, 2025, Mia and Sam hosted an unforgettable San Diego area wedding at the stunning Rancho Guejito Vinyeard in Escondido. Located in North County San Diego, Rancho Guejito offers sweeping vineyard views and majestic mountain backdrops—making it a top choice for couples searching for a picturesque San Diego wedding venue.

Their ceremony took place on the venue’s Terrace, which overlooks the vineyards and the rolling San Pasqual Valley hills. The ceremony soundtrack featured “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri for the wedding party entrance, “River Flows In You” by Yiruma for Mia’s walk down the aisle, and “Lucky” by Jason Mraz for the joyful recessional.

With over 100 guests in attendance, the energy continued into the reception with spotlight dances that included “3 Rounds and a Sound” by Blind Pilot for their first dance, and “Landslide” by The Chicks for the father-daughter moment.

As their San Diego wedding DJ, I curated a high-energy playlist that kept guests on the dance floor all night. From timeless classics like Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” to throwback party hits from Britney Spears, Shania Twain, and Ciara, to modern bangers from Pitbull, Taylor Swift, and Avicii, the dance set was a non-stop celebration. Highlights included “Mr. Brightside”, “Get Low”, and an epic Taylor Swift x Lynyrd Skynyrd blend.

It was a celebration of love, laughter, and good vibes—exactly how Mia and Sam envisioned it.

Brianna & Jacob’s Get Married at La Aventura

When you combine a pandemic love story, a tight-knit Latin family, and a couple who loves sports, concerts, and Taylor Swift, you get a wedding celebration that feels both personal and electric. Brianna and Jacob’s big day at La Ventura in San Clemente was the perfect mix of heartfelt moments and nonstop party energy — exactly the kind of celebration I love creating as a San Diego wedding DJ.

From emotional parent dances to a courtyard ceremony and a dance floor that stayed packed until the final song, this wedding was a masterclass in intentional wedding reception music and unforgettable moments.

A Love Story That Grew During the Pandemic

Brianna and Jacob met through mutual friends in 2020 — right as the world shut down. Instead of letting the timing hold them back, they leaned in. Pandemic dating meant long walks with their pets, movie nights, takeout dinners, picnics, and sweet treats.

When the world reopened, their adventures expanded — Dodgers games, Lakers nights, Rams Sundays, USC pride, concerts, Disneyland trips, Vegas getaways, and weekend visits during their long-distance chapter while Jacob lived in Lompoc.

Their relationship matured through change, distance, and growth — and their wedding reflected that journey. It was joyful, grounded, and centered on family.

The Venue: La Aventura, San Clemente

This was my first time performing at La Ventura, and I was genuinely impressed. Conveniently located right off the 5 freeway, it offers a beautiful courtyard ceremony space and a warm, inviting reception hall that feels both modern and intimate.

For couples searching for modern wedding inspiration in Orange County or San Diego, La Aventura is absolutely worth a look. The layout allows for a seamless flow from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception, which makes a big difference in maintaining energy throughout the night.

Grand Entrance Energy: Setting the Tone Early

We kicked off the reception with serious hype.

Wedding Party Entrance: “Stir Fry” – Migos
Bride & Groom Entrance: “Fancy” – Drake (feat. T.I. & Swizz Beatz)

The second “Fancy” dropped, the room exploded. A strong entrance song does more than introduce the couple, it signals that the party has officially started. As a San Diego wedding DJ, I always coach couples to choose a song that feels like a statement. Brianna and Jacob did exactly that.

Special Dances That Meant Something

One of my favorite parts of the night was how intentional Brianna was about her special dances.

First Dance: “I Believe” – Jonas Brothers
Father/Daughter: “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” – Frankie Valli
Mother/Son: “Para Siempre” – Vicente Fernández

The Latin influence in the room was strong, and “Para Siempre” created such a powerful emotional moment. You could feel generations connecting in that dance.

A Unique Brother/Sister Dance

Brianna also included something you don’t see often — a dance with her brother. They chose:

“You’ll Be In My Heart” – Phil Collins (from Tarzan)

It was nostalgic, emotional, and incredibly sweet. Moments like these are why thoughtful timeline planning matters. As the DJ, my job isn’t just playing songs, it’s guiding transitions and creating space for meaningful experiences.

A Latin Family Party (With Late-Night Tacos!)

This was a Latin/Hispanic family wedding, and the dance floor reflected that beautifully.

Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Elvis Crespo, and Los Tucanes De Tijuana had the crowd singing at the top of their lungs. “Suavemente” and “Gasolina” absolutely took the energy to another level.

And yes, there were late-night tacos. More weddings should do this. Keeping guests fueled is one of the most underrated wedding dance floor ideas out there.

A Swiftie Moment to Remember

Brianna is a huge Taylor Swift fan — so we made sure Taylor had her spotlight throughout the night.

One of the most unforgettable moments?

When I dropped “Our Song.”

The entire room started singing. Even Jacob.

At one point, I handed them the mic, and they sang to each other while their friends cheered them on. It turned into one of those spontaneous, goosebumps moments that no one plans, but everyone remembers.

This is why reading the room matters. Great wedding reception music is about timing, not just playlists.

Dance Floor Highlights: From Throwbacks to Festival Energy

This dance floor did not slow down.

A few standout moments:

“Yeah!” – Usher
“Dancing Queen” – ABBA
“Lean Like A Cholo” – Down AKA Kilo
“Party in the USA” – Miley Cyrus
“September” – Earth, Wind & Fire
“Low” – Flo Rida
“Levels” – Avicii
“One More Time” – Daft Punk

We flowed from 90s hip-hop to Latin hits to EDM anthems and pop throwbacks without losing momentum. That balance is what keeps multiple generations engaged,  and it’s a key reason couples hire an experienced San Diego wedding DJ instead of relying on a simple playlist.

The Perfect Last Dance

We closed the night with:

“Smooth” – Santana ft. Rob Thomas

A California classic. The entire room swayed, sang along, and wrapped their arms around each other. It was the perfect nostalgic, feel-good ending to an already epic celebration.

Ending strong matters just as much as starting strong.
