Emily & Ryan’s Coronado Wedding Party at Coronado Cays Yacht Club

A High-Energy Love Story | Coronado, California

Some weddings are elegant. Some are emotional. And some are just absolute bangers.

Emily and Ryan’s celebration at the beautiful Coronado Cays Yacht Club in Coronado was the perfect blend of heartfelt moments and full-send dance floor energy. As a San Diego wedding DJ, this is exactly the kind of night you dream about … 100-plus guests, open bar, high school sweethearts, and a couple who simply wanted their wedding to feel like the best party of their lives.

And that’s exactly what it became.

From High School Sweethearts to a Coronado Celebration

Emily and Ryan have been together since high school. After a small courthouse wedding in Massachusetts, they planned a larger celebration in San Diego to bring together friends and family from both the East and West coasts

Their reception was personal, high energy and unforgettable.

Waterfront Views & Modern Wedding Inspiration

Coronado Cays Yacht Club offers that perfect Southern California waterfront backdrop, boats in the marina, sunset over the bay, and a relaxed but elevated vibe. It’s an ideal setting for couples looking for modern wedding inspiration with coastal elegance.

Emotional First Dances That Set the Tone

Before the party kicked into full gear, we honored the moments that mattered most:

  • First Dance: “Wondering Why” – The Red Clay Strays

  • Mother/Son Dance: “Days Like This” – Van Morrison

  • Father/Daughter Dance: “Yours” – Post Malone

Each song felt authentic to them—no fluff, no overproduction, just meaningful music and real emotion. My job as their DJ wasn’t just to press play. It was to create space for those moments to land, manage the timeline, and ensure smooth transitions so the night flowed effortlessly.

The Perfect Dance Floor Opener (A Swiftie Moment)

Emily is a proud Swiftie.

And just before their wedding, Taylor Swift released “The Fate of Ophelia.”

No one could have predicted months earlier that a brand-new Taylor song would drop right before their wedding—and that it would feel like the perfect way to open the dance floor.

But in the moment, it just clicked. So that’s the song that kicked things off.

That’s one of the biggest advantages of working with a seasoned San Diego wedding DJ, reading the room, trusting your instincts, and knowing exactly when to play the right song.

The Final Send-Off: Rock Legends & A Personal Encore

For the official last dance, we brought it home with:

  • “You Shook Me All Night Long” – AC/DC

It was loud, sweaty, and perfect.

But we weren’t done.

Ryan had one request:

An encore of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird.”

The entire room belted it out like it was a stadium show. It was the kind of ending that doesn’t just close a wedding—it stamps it into memory.

A Love Story Years in the Making, Celebrated Under the Temecula Sky

A Romantic Wedding at Rancho Bellasante

Set among the rolling vineyards of Temecula, Becca and David’s wedding at Rancho Bellasante was the perfect blend of heartfelt storytelling and an unforgettable dance party. As a San Diego wedding DJ, these are the celebrations that stand out most, where every moment feels personal and the energy builds naturally into something incredible.

Their journey, from a high school hallway moment that almost never happened to a surprise beach proposal years later, made this day feel especially meaningful. And that story carried through every part of their wedding reception music.

Setting the Tone: A Joyful and Stylish Entrance

The reception kicked off with the wedding party entering to “Rather Be” by Jess Glynne—a bright, feel-good track that immediately brought smiles to the room.

Becca and David followed with “Best of My Love” by Cheryl Lynn, a timeless, upbeat choice that perfectly matched the celebratory atmosphere. A well-planned entrance like this sets the tone early and helps transition guests from dinner into party mode.

Meaningful Moments That Told Their Story

One of the most powerful parts of the evening was how intentionally Becca and David chose songs that reflected their relationships and journey.

  • First Dance: “Gonna Love You” by Parmalee

  • Mother/Son Dance: “Humble and Kind” by Tim McGraw

  • Father/Daughter Dance: “I Loved Her First” by Heartland

A particularly touching moment came when Becca dedicated a special dance to her mom, sharing “Mama’s Song” by Carrie Underwood after presenting her with her bouquet. It was one of those emotional highlights that grounded the night and reminded everyone what the celebration was really about.

A Unique Throwback That Meant Something

One of the most unexpected and memorable moments of the night came with “Chantilly Lace” by The Big Bopper.

It’s not a song you typically hear at weddings, but this wasn’t about trends, it was about meaning. The track was played as a tribute to Chantilly High School, where Becca and David’s story first began more than a decade ago. This is when music becomes a storytelling tool, not just background sound.

Building a Packed Dance Floor

Once the dance floor opened, the goal was to keep the energy high and the transitions seamless. The night evolved into a dynamic mix of throwbacks, singalongs, and modern hits that kept every generation engaged.

Some standout moments included:

  • Early crowd energy with “Hotel Room Service” – Pitbull

  • Nostalgic singalongs like “Mr. Brightside” – The Killers

  • Feel-good anthems like “Unwritten” – Natasha Bedingfield

  • Dance floor staples like “Wannabe” – Spice Girls

Blending genres, from country and pop to EDM and throwbacks, helped maintain a steady momentum all night long. This kind of thoughtful mixing is key to great wedding dance floor ideas and is something I prioritize at every event.

Ending on a High Note (and a Private Moment)

To close out the night, we brought everyone together for “Came Here For Love” by Sigala and Ella Eyre—a perfect, high-energy sendoff that kept the celebration going until the very last beat.

Afterward, Becca and David shared a private last dance to “Second Guessing” by Florida Georgia Line. These private moments are becoming a favorite piece of modern wedding inspiration, giving couples a quiet, intimate way to soak in the day before it officially ends.

Modern Wedding Inspiration for Your Big Day

If you’re planning your own celebration, here are a few takeaways from Becca and David’s wedding:

  • Choose music that tells your story—not just what’s trending

  • Incorporate meaningful, unexpected moments (like a unique throwback song)

  • Balance emotional highlights with high-energy dance sets

  • Consider a private last dance to end the night on a personal note

Great wedding reception music doesn’t just fill time, it shapes the entire experience and creates moments your guests will never forget.

Mia & Sam’s Rancho Guejito Wedding: A Dreamy San Diego Area Celebration

Mia and Sam with DJ Justin Kanoya, after a fun, sweaty dance party at their Rancho Guejito wedding.

On June 28, 2025, Mia and Sam hosted an unforgettable San Diego area wedding at the stunning Rancho Guejito Vinyeard in Escondido. Located in North County San Diego, Rancho Guejito offers sweeping vineyard views and majestic mountain backdrops—making it a top choice for couples searching for a picturesque San Diego wedding venue.

Their ceremony took place on the venue’s Terrace, which overlooks the vineyards and the rolling San Pasqual Valley hills. The ceremony soundtrack featured “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri for the wedding party entrance, “River Flows In You” by Yiruma for Mia’s walk down the aisle, and “Lucky” by Jason Mraz for the joyful recessional.

With over 100 guests in attendance, the energy continued into the reception with spotlight dances that included “3 Rounds and a Sound” by Blind Pilot for their first dance, and “Landslide” by The Chicks for the father-daughter moment.

As their San Diego wedding DJ, I curated a high-energy playlist that kept guests on the dance floor all night. From timeless classics like Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” to throwback party hits from Britney Spears, Shania Twain, and Ciara, to modern bangers from Pitbull, Taylor Swift, and Avicii, the dance set was a non-stop celebration. Highlights included “Mr. Brightside”, “Get Low”, and an epic Taylor Swift x Lynyrd Skynyrd blend.

It was a celebration of love, laughter, and good vibes—exactly how Mia and Sam envisioned it.

A Coastal Celebration Where the Dance Floor Told the Story

A Stunning La Jolla Wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum

With panoramic ocean views and a relaxed coastal vibe, Katie and Austin’s wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum was the perfect blend of romance, personality, and high-energy celebration. As a San Diego wedding DJ, venues like this create an incredible backdrop, but it’s the people, the story, and the music that truly bring the night to life.

From their playful first meeting, Katie dancing with no music and Austin matching her moves from across the volleyball net, to a 5 a.m. first date hike, their story is anything but ordinary. That same fun, lighthearted energy carried into every moment of their wedding day and especially into their wedding reception music.

A Personalized Approach from the Start

One of the things that made this wedding stand out was the level of intention behind every detail. I had the chance to visit the venue the day before for their ceremony rehearsal, something I don’t often get to do.

Not only did it allow me to dial in logistics and ensure everything ran smoothly, but it also gave me the opportunity to connect with Katie and Austin, their officiant, and family in a more relaxed setting. That connection always translates into a better, more personalized performance on the wedding day.

As a San Diego wedding DJ, building that trust and understanding ahead of time is a big part of creating a seamless experience.

A One-of-a-Kind First Dance

Katie and Austin’s first dance was completely custom, set to a unique track designed specifically for their choreographed routine.

This kind of personalized moment is a great example of modern wedding inspiration. Instead of choosing a traditional song, they created something entirely their own, turning their first dance into a true performance and a memorable highlight for their guests.

Meaningful Moments That Balanced the Energy

The evening also included heartfelt family moments that added emotional depth:

  • Father/Daughter Dance: “This Dance” by Scott Thomas Laughridge

These moments gave the night a natural rhythm, balancing emotion with celebration and helping the flow of the wedding reception music feel intentional and well-paced.

The Songs That Packed the Dance Floor

When it came time to open the dance floor, Katie had two non-negotiables: “What Dreams Are Made Of” by Hilary Duff and “I2I” by Tevin Campbell.

And when those songs hit, the reaction was instant. The dance floor exploded.

From there, we built a high-energy set that kept the momentum going all night:

  • Classic crowd favorites like “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” – Whitney Houston

  • Party anthems like “Yeah!” – Usher

  • Throwback singalongs like “Mr. Brightside” – The Killers

  • Dance classics like “One More Time” – Daft Punk

Blending nostalgic hits with modern tracks and creative edits is one of the most effective wedding dance floor ideas for keeping guests engaged. The key is reading the room and knowing when to lean into those big, shared moments.

Ending the Night on a Perfect Note

To close out the night, we brought everyone together for “Last Dance” by Donna Summer.

It was the perfect sendoff, fun, upbeat and just the right amount of nostalgic. A strong final song like this brings everyone together one last time and leaves guests with a lasting memory of the celebration.

A Celebration Years in the Making at Randhawa Ranch

A Romantic Temecula Wedding with a Packed Dance Floor

Set in the rolling hills of wine country, Ashley and Tanner’s wedding at Randhawa Ranch was the perfect blend of laid-back elegance and high-energy celebration. As a San Diego wedding DJ, I always appreciate venues like this, spaces that allow couples to create a weekend experience that feels both personal and unforgettable.

After 10 years together, from high school sweethearts to newlyweds, Ashley and Tanner’s wedding was a true reflection of their journey. Their focus was simple: celebrate with the people who matter most and create a night filled with great wedding reception music and meaningful moments.

A Grand Entrance That Set the Tone

The evening kicked off with a stylish and upbeat wedding party entrance to “Walking on a Dream” by Empire of the Sun, a perfect choice to build anticipation and energy.

Ashley and Tanner followed with “All of the Lights” by Kanye West, making a bold and memorable entrance that immediately set the tone for the night. A strong grand entrance like this helps shift the room’s energy and gets guests ready for what’s to come.

Meaningful Moments That Told Their Story

The reception included a series of heartfelt dances that highlighted the importance of family and connection:

  • First Dance: “Millionaire” by Chris Stapleton

  • Mother/Son Dance: “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack

  • Bevan Family Dance: “You’ll Always Be My Baby” by Alan Jackson

These moments created a strong emotional foundation for the evening, allowing the celebration to feel both meaningful and balanced. Thoughtful wedding reception music ensures that these transitions feel natural and intentional.

A Dance Floor That Brought Everyone Together

Once the dance floor opened, the energy built quickly and stayed there all night. One of the things that made this wedding especially fun was the setup: being positioned close to the dance floor allowed for constant interaction with guests, helping keep the energy high and the momentum going.

The playlist blended genres and eras seamlessly, creating a dynamic experience for everyone:

  • Classic favorites like “September” – Earth, Wind & Fire

  • Party anthems like “I Gotta Feeling” – Black Eyed Peas

  • Throwback singalongs like “Mr. Brightside” – The Killers

  • Country hits like “Wagon Wheel” – Darius Rucker

From early 2000s throwbacks to modern pop and country crossovers, the dance floor stayed full from start to finish. This kind of variety is one of the most effective wedding dance floor ideas—keeping every guest engaged and excited to stay on the floor.

Ending the Night with a Classic

To close out the celebration, we brought everyone together for “Dancing Queen” by ABBA.

It was the perfect ending—fun, nostalgic, and full of energy. Ending the night with a universally loved song creates a shared moment that leaves guests smiling long after the music stops.
