**San Diego yoga DJ justin Kanoya poses with acroyoga performers Steven Cumming and Gina Shiotani at the Soul Fuel Yoga Fest.**

The Soul Fuel Yoga Fest took place on March 18, 2017 at the Marriott Marquis in San Diego. The event benefits the Monarch School, a school that serves homeless and at-risk youth. There were two yoga sessions, a vinyasa flow led by Hella Neumann and an acroyoga workshop led by super duo Gina Shiotani and Steven Cummings.

I DJ’d the acroyoga session, keeping the vibe upbeat while many first time acro yoga participants learned to lift and fly.

**Barnard Elementary had their annual school dance on March 10, 2017**

**San Diego Diego, Justin Kanoya, DJ's the Barnard Elementary School dance with some help from daughter, Marissa.**

For a fourth consecutive I DJ’d a dance at Barnard Pacific Language Academy, a school my daughter attended from kindergarten through third grade. Our family still has many friends at the school, and of course my daughter still has her classmates there, so it’s always a great time to return.

This year it was a superheroes theme; so cute to see all the kids dressed up. And as always with elementary school dances, my daughter served as a great assistant helping me out with all the song requests.

**Silent Storm headphones were used for a silent disco event at USD.**

Events in the middle of the week are not all too common. Silent Disco dance parties on Wednesdays are probably less common. But that’s what this was, a headphones only party at the University of San Diego. This dance party, organized by an on campus student organization, was open to all students and took place in a tented courtyard.

Silent Disco’s utilize headphones to transmit music directly to the attendees. Headsets were provided by Silent Storm, a company I’ve worked with on other parties. But this was the first time I worked alongside other DJs. The unique aspect of utilizing these headphones is they have three selectable channels. Each DJ -- in this case myself, DJ Extreme and DJ Nikks -- feeds the headphones with their music. DJ Extreme added to the senses by spinning music videos, mostly old school hip-hop and R&B. Nikks spun current hip hop, while I played various sub genres of House Music.

The headphones blink with an LED light that shows what channel it’s selected on. This makes it fun to see who’s listening to what, but also gives good visual feedback for the DJ.

**The Community Center at Sweetwater Summit Regional Park is a beautiful spot to host a wedding or special event.**

More than 10 years ago, Johnna, the bride at this wedding, attended another wedding I DJ’d. It was her brother’s wedding. And it was the beginning of many special days and events I would share with this great family.

Johnna and Dustin partied it up with friends and family at Sweetwater Regional Summit Park. The venue is located in Bonita, among an RV campground. While this might seem a bit rustic, it’s actually a beautiful wedding location, and the community center where the reception took place is a perfect spot for a great party.
