Fitbit Local San Diego Launch Event - San Diego Waterfront Park

Fitbit, essentially the biggest name in wearable fitness technology, recently kicked off a new program in San Diego titled Fitbit Local. The company, with users worldwide, is now working with select ambassadors in U.S. cities to put together a monthly program of meet-ups to get Fitbit users together to mingle, exercise and sweat.

San Diego was the first stop on the Fitbit Local tour, and I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with my running coach/life coach/spin instructor and most importantly, friend, Sheri Matthews. She along with Mike Sherbakov have been designated San Diego’s Fitbit ambassadors. Mike is also a great San Diego fitness community leader and I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to work with him on this project.

Sheri and Mike will be leading workouts over the next few months. For you San Diego locals, there is more information on the program website. 

On this day, however, they led a quick two-hour event that contained a high intensity bootcamp style workout, followed by about 45 minutes of yoga. I kept the energy levels up with fast paced arrival music and played that throughout the initial workout before slowing things down for yoga.

The event took place at the San Diego Waterfront Park, located on the lawn of the San Diego County building, a beautiful setting for a morning fitness/yoga DJ session.

We’ve finally got a Lululemon Outlet Store within a reasonable driving distance of San Diego and I had the privilege to be a part of opening day. The store, nestled in the massive Desert Hills Premium Outlet Mall, opened on November 6, 2015. As expected, a line of Lulu addicts started to line up outside the door about an hour before opening time. Once the ribbon was cut, it was on!

I supplied music and of course, my custom Lululemon vinyl from 12-inch Skinz.

Elizabeth and Jonathan’s Dance Party - Quail Haven Farm Wedding

Jonathan and Elizabeth's San Diego area wedding at Quail Haven Farm (October 17, 2015) was a wonderful event with plenty of unique DIY touches. From the centerpieces, to the signage and even the wine -- which was hand crafted by both the father of the bride and his brother. 

But what was most remarkable was the surprise gift given to the couple, a hand made quilt that was contributed to by several different family members. It was a presentation that I have never seen in all my years of hosting weddings.

Friends and family presented Jonathan and Elizabeth with a handmade quilt as a wedding gift.

My favorite sign of the night was this one. Elizabeth and John are both officers in the San Diego Police Department. I joked that this was the earliest the cops had shown up at party, but luckily we didn't get shut down. 

And this cake ... it might just be the best wedding cake I've ever seen.

This wedding took place at Quail Haven Farm, technically listed in North San Diego County in Vista, but almost seems like Fallbrook. It's a great, secluded venue. It's perfect for couples looking for a rustic, outdoor wedding.

It was a great night, with a lot of 90s, a favorite of the couple. Here's a quick video and the setlist below:

Lululemon Fitness Industry Night - Fashion Valley Mall

There’s a term in every industry and it’s “industry night.” It’s especially prevalent in the nightclub industry, where those that work in that industry typically need an alternate day to hang out with fellow colleagues.

On October 20, 2016, Lululemon had its own industry night, this time for those in the fitness industry. It’s a bit of twist on the aforementioned, but the Lululemon Fashion Valley store invited San Diego area fitness industry workers for a night of music, drinks and luon.

Personal trainers, run coaches, front desk associates from local gyms and many more came out on this night for some fun at this popular store.

Lululemon Leadership Conference - Closing Party

The three-day Lululemon Leadership Conference crescendoed to this final night of dancing, singing and, well more dancing. The ballroom and foyer spaces that had been used for meetings, keynote speakers, meals, breakout sessions and much more was transformed into party central.

From a massive Just Dance dance floor set-up, to the karaoke room to the main room that featured myself, DJ Urn and Mark Woodyard entertaining attendees, it was a great night. Sharing the stage was a fun experience, as the three of us traded short sets and kept the energy up.

Mark Woodyard is a talented musician that has some cool takes on popular pop and hip songs. Here’s one clip from the night of him performing a Sexual Healing/F**kin Problems mash-up.
