Jaclyn and Dan's first dance during their wedding at the San Diego Botanic Garden.

Jaclyn and Dan are a couple from the Bay Area that made their way down to San Diego for an amazing wedding with friends and family. Their celebration took place at the San Diego Botanic Garden, a venue I had never worked at wedding at in my 14 years of DJing weddings in San Diego. That all changed the week of their wedding, as I ended up DJing two weddings at the venue in the same week!

This reception also provided an opportunity to mix together a custom first dance for Jaclyn and Dan. They loved the song XO, sung by both John Mayer and Beyonce and had a hard time choosing which version to dance to. So why not both?

I mixed a version that started with Mayer and then segued into the Queen Bey with a little backbeat. Fun times ... as was this whole wedding.

San Diego DJ Justin Kanoya DJ's for Hitfix at the San Diego Comic Con 2016. 

San Diego Comic Con 2016 once again rolled through the streets of San Diego. With it were caped crusaders, zombies and other indescribable costumes. While much of the party is inside the San Diego Convention Center, there's probably just as much happening outside.

I had the opportunity to DJ an event for Hitfix, and entertainment website. They hosted the party on the pool deck of the Hotel Solamar. It was a perfect evening with San Diego as a perfect backdrop, including Petco Park.

San Diego yoga instructor, Katie Burke, and yoga DJ Justin Kanoya have some fun after a yoga sculpt session at Corepower Yoga. 

Another great sweat session with Katie Burke at the Corepower Point Loma location. If you are a Corepower member and have only tried out vinyasa and other "typical" yoga classes, make a note to check out a sculpt class. It's quite a workout and I certainly love playing music for it.

Joy and Doug’s Dance Party - San Diego Botanic Garden Wedding

San Diego Wedding DJ, Justin Kanoya, introduces the newly wedded couple, Joy and Doug, at the San Diego Botanic Garden.

Joy and Doug met via an online dating service. Joy’s message to potential suitors was that she wanted to go on her “last, first date.” She did just that with Doug.

The two celebrated their day with family and friends at the San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas on July 10, 2016. The venue is a great outdoor spot, surrounded by incredible foliage that the garden has to offer.

Joy was a co-worker of mine when I worked at the Port of San Diego. Many of my former colleagues were in attendance, which made for a nice mini reunion for me.

The night consisted of a fun dance party consisting of a lot of “wedding classics” and a few Motown hits that I love and haven’t played in a while.

Lululemon Silent Yoga Party - Private Residence, La Jolla

Shhh, we're doing silent yoga. Attendees experience yoga while music and instructions are piped through their headphones. San Diego yoga and fitness DJ, Justin Kanoya, spun the tunes for this event. 

Kicking off this summer and continuing the rest of the year, Lululemon is setting up outside of their stores and in seven communities, within seven cities for seven months (one month in each city). These venues are "a place where ideas are celebrated and inspiration flows naturally, from the minute you arrive to the moment you leave."

San Diego is one of the lucky cities to experience the Lululemon Residency, a cool, Spanish style home in La Jolla. Throughout the month, different activities will be going in at the home, organized by various local Lululemon stores. 

On this night, the Fashion Valley store hosted a silent yoga and dance party. Last year I DJ'd a silent dance party that celebrated the stores one year anniversary. It's a unique experience where dancers, or in this case yogi's, wear headsets listening to the music in their ears instead of blasting from speakers. 

After the yoga flow, guests enjoyed a short set of dancing and dinner.
